AURORA REFORMED CHURCH

Proclaiming the Doctrines of Grace
“Amazing grace, how sweet the sound”... Familiar words of a familiar hymn—grace is a Biblical concept that seems to be largely obscured in today’s modern church culture. At Aurora Reformed Church, our focus is to “proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (I Peter 2:9). Our desire is to have God-centered worship, our heart is to be family-integrated and covenantal, and our conviction is to stand firmly upon a thoroughly Biblical and Reformed heritage. Sola Gratia...to the praise of the glory of His grace.

In a modern culture that is characterized as the “Me” generation, we recognize the centrality of God and His Christ in all aspects of our lives. The most fundamental aspect of grace is to see that it is God’s work that counts –”for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works.” In light of this foundational truth, our worship seeks to glorify Him who calls us by the glorious message of the gospel.

Being Reformed means we embrace the doctrines of the Protestant Reformation; doctrines that proclaim the Gospel; preached by Christ and his apostles. These foundational truths are often summarized in Solas of the Reformation: Scripture Alone, Christ Alone, Grace Alone, Faith Alone, To God Alone be the Glory. We hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith as being a thorough summation of Biblical truth.
In the first sermon recorded in the book of Acts, the apostle Peter quoted from the Abrahamic covenant, declaring that “the promise is to you and your children.” (Acts 2:29) The church throughout the Bible is spoken of as the body of Christ and is exhorted to unity. As our children are included in the body of Christ, we keep them with us during our worship service each Lord’s Day as well as encourage and train them to participate.
